Coco's Clowns is primarily a group of African American Female Clowns. Most of our clowns are mothers and early childhood educators who have been clowning for more than 20 years. Our troupe was organized in 1986. Our concept is that children pefer an interactive clown performance. They want to participate by playing, singing, jumping and acting. They don't want to sit and watch others enjoy themselves, they want to be a part of the show. That's why our games and activities are "child-centered".
We provide 90 minutes of "custom designed" entertainment complete with singing, dancing, and age appropriate games and activities. We have a karaoke machine where the children can sing along to recorded music. We do face painting and other manipulative activities. Instead of musical chairs, we play musical children, where chairs are eliminated instead of children. In our grand prize game, children are given three chances before they are eliminated from the contest. Our karaoke show is an opportunity for all children to be super stars.
We end our performance with a grand parade complete with rhythm instruments and costume assessories our clown brings out. Its fun for the young and the old. The best part about our performance is that, parents get to sit down and enjoy their adult guest while we work with the children. When a Coco's Clown finishes her performance, the children are ready to sing happy birthday, have cake and ice cream and open the gifts. Shortly after, they are ready to go home. Most of our performances are repeat performances.
